The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to head next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- The adventurer knows the region and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as important members in the influential clan could assist the party access locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This means them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
